We start the year of the ox with a series of customized Motion training for one of the oldest broadcaster in Hong Kong, Radio Television Hong Kong.
We had conducted software training for their staff from Radio
Television Hong Kong before. However, it was very different this time.
The involvement of different departments, customizing each training to
cater for each different departments’ needs at the same time.
It
has been 80 years since Hong Kong launched its first broadcasting
service in 1928. Today RTHK has transformed the then radio broadcaster
into a renowned Hong Kong brand name, the sole public broadcaster in
Hong Kong dedicated to serving the public and catering for the
interests of minorities, providing a platform for people from all walks
of life to express their views, caring for the underprivileged, and
bearing witness to all social changes of Hong Kong.
Like many
broadcasters today, RTHK step into today's digital broadcasting age
where their services are no longer confined to programme delivery.
Their enhanced services moved towards an era of multilevel,
multi-language and cross-platform developments. Their staff need to
constantly adept and apply new skills to this ever changing landscape.
We first met up with Radio Television Hong Kong last year to discuss about customized training. Through the efforts from Ms Debbie Hui, Assistant Training Officer for the Training and Development Unit, we
were given the opportunity to learn first hand, what were their
concerns for the training. There are many advantages of having
training courses customized around our corporate client.

| Not only
flexible training date and time, but the abilities to adjust and
customize training to fit your departments’ needs. Because of the small
class arrangement, better attention was given to each individual.
Better results can be achieved in a short time. This was very apparent
in this situation.
A total of 23 editors, multimedia web designers to animation designers attended
customized motion training. Motion training both introduction and
advance was provided to different departments within RTHK, mainly due
to RTHK's migration to the HD broadcast platform. Final Cut Pro and
Motion had been chosen as the platform choice for this move.
One of the attendees was Mr Anthony Cheung, Head of Video Editing Section. When asked how Motion training can help his editors, this is his thoughts.

Editor’s job are becoming more demanding and time consuming. More
digital graphics, captions, mixed video formats and visual effects are
demanded during the NLE processes.

to shift from video tape online panels to completing the entire process
in NLE."
