Final Cut Pro at Ogilvy

Our Apple Certified Final Cut Pro classes tend to be attended by people who are currently in or going into the broadcast or post production industries. However, our latest additions are from a different sector, the advertising industry.

Established in Hong Kong in 1972, Ogilvy is the number one marketing communications network in the territory. Ogilvy offers a full range of marketing communications services including brand consultancy, advertising, direct marketing, interactive media, media planning and buying, customer relationship management, database management, telemarketing, public relations, sales promotion, event management and marketing, and visual identity. Their clients include MTR, Prudential Assurance Company and SmarTone Vodafone.


We asked Ogilvy’s staff attending the Apple certified Final Cut Pro classes, what role does Final Cut Pro plays inside their agency. Primarily, Final Cut Pro is tool used to pitch creative ideas to their clients during the idea approval stage. Editing storyboards and making animatics, recording rough voice over guide track are all part of this approval process. Bringing creative ideas to life. Only after the concept has given the stamp of approval by the client, then the project goes into the final stage, post production.

So the next time you see the Prudential ‘Always Listening, always understanding’ campaign ad, you just saw Ogilvy at work.
