Luk, who attended our Motion workshop, first introduced us to DA AI Television. Flying in from Taiwan, Luk is currently working for DA AI Television,
a 24-hour Chinese Language channel established in 1997. And is funded
by Asia’s largest charity foundation TZU CHI. With offices in over
twenty countries, the Tzu Chi Foundation is one of the largest charity
organizations originating from Taiwan. For over thirty years, the
organization has provided services for those in need worldwide.
DA AI Television
broadcasts live from Taiwan to the world through 9 different satellites
with daily programming includes: live news coverage, talk shows,
documentaries, drama, educational and children’s programs, animation,
cooking demonstrations, cultural programming and much more. DA AI media
pool includes DA AI Web Tv, DA AI radio, news,
We recently visited DA AI Television in
Taipei and were very impressed with their setup. As we entered into DA
AI Television facilities, we had to take off your shoes and slipped
into their slippers. This applies to everyone who works there, and
anyone that is visiting the station. From their studios to their
training rooms, we can tell that quite a sound investment had been made
to establish this station. Investing not only in their equipment, but
also in their investment in their people. Their training facilities are
just as impressive.

| They not only trained their own staff, but also
nearby universities students on aspect of television production
process. What makes DA AI Television even more unique is that
this station is a fully functional tapeless television station. Running
mainly on Apple Macs! When most TV stations are frantic about their
tape libraries, DA AI incoming media goes straight to a digital source, where it will be complied, edited, process and digitally goes on air.
What made DA AI Television transits from a traditional tape based station to be tapeless, was an incident a few years ago. Then DA AI Television was
located in the basement of another building. Torrential rain in Taipei
caused a huge flood, which flooded the station. In a desperate attempt
to save their precious tape libraries, their staff and hundreds of
charity workers from Tzu Chi came and cleaned the tapes by hand.
Determined not to lose their precious media again; they began the
process of transferring from tape into data.
Most importantly DA AI Television has become the media hub center for the Tzu Chi Foundation. Bringing their message and their work from Taiwan to the world.
